Composition & sound design
As well as playing, I also compose and arrange music and occasionally do some sound design for the theatre too.
I am one of several composers/arrangers writing for the Hackney Colliery Band, so why don't you come and check out one of our gigs?
I also write music for various theatre-related pursuits, including the music-dance game Segue which I co-devised with choreographer Laura Kriefman for the V&A, Hide & Seek festival at the National Theatre and Latitude Festival.
In September 2010 I composed and designed First Impressions for the Theatre Royal, Margate. Other sound design/composition work includes Echo for SPID theatre and the Latitude Festival.
As well as traditional score-based composition, I work with modern sound design tools and electronics, including extensive use of Ableton Live and Max for Live (both of which also feature in my live music and comedy work on certain projects).
My arranging work has included MDing and arranging brass for Jim Bob (Carter USM), Darren Hayman (Hefner), Mike Marlin and Rob Lord, and varying line-ups for Robin Ince's School For Gifted Children, amongst others.
If you'd like to discuss arranging, composition or sound design work, why don't you drop me a line?
